BPC-157: research summary
For laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. This page summarises published literature. It gives no advice on use.
What the literature covers
BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-residue peptide (a pentadecapeptide). Its sequence was described as a partial fragment of a protein isolated from gastric juice, and much of the literature calls it a "stable gastric pentadecapeptide".
Most published BPC-157 work comes from rodent and cell-culture models, and a large share comes from one research group in Zagreb. Recurring topics include its interaction with the nitric oxide (NO) system and its effect on receptor expression in cultured fibroblasts.
For laboratory work it is supplied as a lyophilised acetate salt. Identity and purity are checked by HPLC and mass spectrometry, and those results are on the lot's Certificate of Analysis.

BPC-157 compared with TB-500
BPC-157 and TB-500 are often mentioned together in research catalogues, but they are unrelated molecules. BPC-157 is a 15-residue fragment of gastric origin. TB-500 is a short synthetic peptide modelled on the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, so its literature is about actin and cytoskeleton biology.

Frequently asked questions
- What is BPC-157 made of?
- BPC-157 is a linear peptide of 15 amino acids, with formula C62H98N16O22 and a molecular weight of about 1419.5 g/mol (PubChem CID 9941957).
- Where does most BPC-157 research come from?
- Most indexed papers are animal and cell-model studies, and a large share comes from a single group. Independent replication is limited, and that is worth noting when reading the literature.
- How is a BPC-157 vial checked?
- Each lot is tested by HPLC for purity and by mass spectrometry for identity. The Certificate of Analysis for the lot shows both results.
