Glossary
Definitions for words the catalogue uses. They are not a protocol, and they do not fill a gap on a product page.

- Basis point
- One hundredth of a percent. Used when a rate is stored as a whole number.
- Borosilicate
- A family of glass used for laboratory vessels. The word describes the material family. It is not a heat-shock test.
- Nominal volume
- Buffer
- A solution used in laboratory work to resist pH change. Sable Peptides’s buffer pages do not state a measured pH unless a lot card is on file.
- Molarity

- Canonical URL
- The preferred address of a page. Filtered catalogue views point back to the unfiltered catalogue so search engines are not asked to index every combination.
- Certificate of analysis
- A document of tests and results for a lot. If it is not filed, the catalogue says so and does not invent the figures.
- Lot
- Classification hold
- An internal state for a record that is not offered for sale and is not on the public site.

- Fulfilment
- The work of packing and dispatching an order after it exists. Status names in the operator desk describe that work. They do not prove a parcel has moved unless a tracking reference is recorded.
- Shipping zone

- Lot
- A specific making or filling of a material. Sable Peptides does not publish lot numbers, because no lot file is attached.
- Certificate of analysisSKU
- Lyophilised
- Freeze-dried. Sable Peptides vials are sold lyophilised, as a dry cake in a crimp-capped vial. The word is not a method and not a dose.
- Nominal volume

- A concentration unit. When Sable Peptides writes 1 M, it is quoting a supply label, not publishing an assay.

- The volume an item is named for. It is not a calibration certificate.

- Sable Peptides’s phrase for an item that is not offered for human or animal treatment. It is not, by itself, a legal classification.
- Classification hold

- A stock keeping unit. On Sable Peptides it identifies a variant, such as a glove size, not a lot.
- VariantLot
- Shipping zone
- A group of destinations that share a demonstration tariff. Sable Peptides currently describes two UK zones and no international zone.
- Fulfilment

- A sellable version of a product, with its own code, price and stock. Sizes of the same glove are variants.
