Glossary
Proline
Proline (three-letter code Pro, one-letter code P) is an amino acid whose side chain forms a ring with its backbone nitrogen, making it a secondary amine. Proline restricts backbone flexibility, disrupts helices and sheets, and is common in turns. Peptide bonds before proline can adopt cis and trans forms.
