Deamidation
Deamidation is a chemical reaction in which the side-chain amide of asparagine or glutamine is removed, converting it to aspartic acid, isoaspartic acid or glutamic acid. It increases mass by about 0.98 Da and introduces a negative charge. Deamidation is accelerated at neutral to alkaline pH and elevated temperature, especially at Asn-Gly sequences.
