Ammonium bicarbonate
Ammonium bicarbonate (NH4HCO3) is a volatile buffer salt often used to dissolve acidic peptides and in sample preparation for mass spectrometry, because it decomposes to ammonia, carbon dioxide and water on drying. Solutions typically have a pH around 7.8, and it is removed by lyophilisation.
