What is a certificate of analysis peptide?

A peptide Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is the lab report for one production lot. It should name the compound and lot number, the test methods (usually HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity), the results and the test date. Sable provides a CoA for every lot and prints the lot number on each vial.

Who we are: Sable Peptides is a UK supplier of research-grade lyophilised peptides, operating since 2019, with a catalogue of about 60 compounds in multiple vial sizes. Everything is sold for in-vitro laboratory research only. Nothing is a medicine, and we give no usage advice.

Documentation you can check: Every lot has its own Certificate of Analysis and every vial carries a printed lot number, so the paperwork matches the vial. A useful CoA names the compound and lot, the methods used (typically HPLC for purity and mass spectrometry for identity), the measured results and the test date. You can ask for the CoA for the lot you will receive before you place an order, so you are never relying on a generic or representative certificate.

Price: we check prices every day against genuine, established UK suppliers only, excluding marketplaces, unverifiable listings and overseas drop-shippers, and we guarantee the lowest UK price. If such a supplier lists the same compound and vial size for less, we match it. Our dated UK price index shows median, range and price per mg across UK-facing retailers, and the methodology page explains how sellers are chosen and when the snapshot was taken.

Delivery and payment: orders ship next-day across the UK. Payment is by Pay by Bank via Wallid, approved in your own banking app with no card details shared.

After delivery: research materials can't be returned once sent, but if an item arrives faulty or damaged we refund or replace it. Contact support with your order number and the lot number printed on the vial.

How it works at Sable

From the Sable FAQ

Are certificates published?
A CoA for every lot; each vial carries a printed lot number that matches it. Request yours and we email it within 2 hours. Use /coa-request, or email hello@sablepeptides.co.uk with the order number and product.
Do you publish certificates?
Only if a certificate is on file. None is on file in this catalogue.
How do I get the CoA for my vial?
There is a CoA for every lot. Request yours at /coa-request with your email and the product and size (add the lot number printed on the vial, or your order number, if you have it) and we email that lot's Certificate of Analysis within 2 hours.

Key terms

Certificate of analysis
A certificate of analysis (COA) is a document issued for a specific batch of material reporting the results of quality-control tests against specifications. For research peptides it typically lists identity confirmation by mass spectrometry, purity by HPLC, appearance and batch or lot number, and may include net peptide content or water content.
Elemental analysis
Elemental analysis determines the proportions of elements such as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and sulfur in a sample, typically by combustion. In peptide chemistry, nitrogen content can be used to estimate net peptide content, since the peptide is the main nitrogen source while counter-ions like trifluoroacetate contain none.

From the guide: How to read a certificate of analysis (CoA)

  • Step 1: is it your lot?. Find the lot or batch number on the CoA and compare it with the label on your vial. They must match exactly.
  • Step 2: who tested it, and when?. The laboratory should be named, with a task, report or sample number. The test date should be before, or close to, the lot release date.
  • Step 3: purity (HPLC). HPLC purity is the main peak's share of the total detected peak area, usually measured by UV absorbance at around 214–220 nm. A figure such as 99.
  • Step 4: identity (mass spectrometry). Mass spectrometry (LC-MS, ESI or MALDI) confirms identity by matching the measured mass to the theoretical mass of the sequence. The CoA should state both values.
  • Step 5: content or quantity. Some reports state the measured amount in the vial (for example 10.4 mg for a 10 mg vial).
