UK research peptide supplier checklist

Use this checklist before ordering from any UK research peptide supplier, including Sable. Each point is something you can check yourself, from public records or the documents the supplier gives you.

1. The company

  • A registered UK company: look the name up on the Companies House register and check the company number, registered office and status match what the website says.
  • Check what the incorporation date means. A business can trade before it incorporates; a supplier should explain any gap plainly rather than imply a longer company history.
  • A real contact route: a monitored email address and a named registered office. A registered office is a legal address, not necessarily a shop or lab.

2. Certificates of analysis

  • A CoA for the specific lot you receive, not a generic certificate for the compound.
  • The lot number on the CoA matches the lot number printed on your vial.
  • The testing laboratory is named, and the report has a task or report number you can check with that lab.
  • The CoA states the method (normally HPLC for purity, mass spectrometry for identity) and the date tested.
  • See: how to read a CoA, and how to verify a CoA with the lab.

3. The vial and label

  • A printed lot number on every vial.
  • The compound name and the amount per vial (for example 10 mg) on the label.
  • Clear research-use-only labelling. A supplier that markets products for human use, gives administration instructions or makes health claims is describing a medicine, which needs authorisation in the UK.

4. Price, stated honestly

  • Compare like with like: the same compound and the same vial size. Price per mg is the fairest single figure.
  • A dated comparison is more useful than an undated 'cheapest' claim. Ask when prices were last checked.
  • Check what delivery costs and when it becomes free, so the total is comparable.

5. Dispatch, delivery and problems

  • A stated dispatch cut-off and the working days it applies to.
  • Tracked UK delivery, with the price for highlands and islands postcodes stated.
  • A written policy for items that arrive faulty or damaged.

6. Payment

  • A payment method that leaves a record and that you approve yourself, such as Pay by Bank through a regulated provider.
  • Be cautious of requests to pay by untraceable methods.
