Reconstitution concentration calculator
Concentration (mg/mL) = peptide mass (mg) ÷ solvent volume (mL). Enter the mass stated for the vial and the volume of solvent added.
Concentration: 5 mg/mL
Worked examples
| Mass | Volume | Concentration |
|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 1 mL | 5 mg/mL |
| 5 mg | 2 mL | 2.5 mg/mL |
| 10 mg | 1 mL | 10 mg/mL |
| 10 mg | 2 mL | 5 mg/mL |
| 10 mg | 5 mL | 2 mg/mL |
| 50 mg | 5 mL | 10 mg/mL |
Notes for the lab
- The result uses the stated vial mass. Net peptide content is usually lower than gross weight because lyophilised peptides contain water and counter-ions; if the lot CoA gives a measured content, use that figure for a more exact concentration.
- The volume added is treated as the final volume. For small volumes the dissolved solid adds slightly to the total.
- Solvent choice depends on the peptide's solubility: see storage and solubility.
- Solution stability: see oxidation-prone residues and peptide aggregation in assay solutions.
