Glossary
Truncated sequence
A truncated sequence is a peptide impurity in which chain growth stopped before completion, often because unreacted amines were capped with acetic anhydride. Truncated peptides are shorter than the target and usually differ substantially in mass and retention time, which makes them easier to remove by preparative HPLC than single-residue deletion sequences.
