Thin-layer chromatography
Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) separates compounds on a thin layer of adsorbent, such as silica, coated onto a plate, as solvent moves up by capillary action. It is a quick, inexpensive way to monitor reactions and check purity qualitatively, though HPLC has largely replaced it for peptide analysis.
