Isotope pattern
An isotope pattern, or isotopic envelope, is the cluster of peaks in a mass spectrum arising from molecules containing different combinations of naturally occurring isotopes, mainly carbon-13. The pattern's shape depends on elemental composition and is used to confirm molecular formulas and determine charge states of peptide ions.
