Ion-exchange chromatography
Ion-exchange chromatography separates molecules based on their net charge using a stationary phase bearing charged groups. Cation exchangers retain positively charged species and anion exchangers retain negatively charged ones. It is used to purify peptides, to analyse charge variants and, in ion chromatography, to quantify counter-ions such as trifluoroacetate.
