Glossary
Bioburden
Bioburden is the number of viable microorganisms present on or in a material before sterilisation. It is measured by culturing samples and counting colony-forming units. Monitoring bioburden helps control contamination during manufacturing and handling of materials such as peptide solutions and laboratory reagents.
