Glossary
Amyloid fibril
Amyloid fibrils are insoluble, highly ordered protein or peptide aggregates with a cross-beta structure in which beta strands run perpendicular to the fibril axis. Some peptides form amyloid under laboratory conditions. Thioflavin T fluorescence and electron microscopy are commonly used to detect fibril formation.
