Glossary
Aliquot
An aliquot is a measured portion of a larger sample. Dividing a peptide stock solution into small single-use aliquots before freezing prevents repeated freeze-thaw cycles and limits contamination of the whole batch. Low-binding tubes are often used for aliquots of dilute or hydrophobic peptides to minimise surface adsorption losses.
