# Valine

Valine (three-letter code Val, one-letter code V) is a branched-chain amino acid with a non-polar isopropyl side chain. Valine is hydrophobic and favours beta-sheet structures. Sequences rich in valine and other beta-branched residues can be difficult to synthesise because of on-resin aggregation.
