# Ultrapure water

Ultrapure water is water purified to very low levels of ions, organic carbon, particles and microorganisms, typically with a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ·cm at 25 °C. It is used to prepare HPLC mobile phases, buffers and peptide solutions, because contaminants can create ghost peaks, adducts in mass spectra or assay interference.
