# Stock solution

A stock solution is a concentrated solution prepared in advance and diluted to working concentrations as needed. Peptide stocks are often made at 1 to 10 mM or 1 to 10 mg/mL, divided into single-use aliquots and stored frozen. This approach limits repeated freeze-thaw cycles and reduces weighing errors associated with small masses.
