# Sonication

Sonication is the application of sound energy, usually ultrasound, to agitate particles in a sample. Brief bath sonication can help disperse and dissolve stubborn peptide powders. Prolonged or probe sonication may heat the sample and promote degradation or aggregation, so short pulses with cooling are recommended.
