# Serial dilution

Serial dilution is a stepwise process of diluting a solution by a constant factor, such as tenfold, to produce a series of decreasing concentrations. It is used to prepare standard curves and working solutions from concentrated peptide stocks. Each step introduces a small error, so careful pipetting and mixing are important.
