Glossary

# Septum

A septum is a flexible rubber or elastomer seal that closes a vial or container while allowing access with a needle for adding or withdrawing liquids. Septa in peptide vials maintain a closed system during reconstitution. Repeated punctures can compromise the seal, so aliquoting is often preferred.
