# Salt bridge

A salt bridge is a non-covalent interaction combining hydrogen bonding and electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged groups, typically between the side chains of acidic residues such as aspartate or glutamate and basic residues such as lysine or arginine. Salt bridges can stabilise peptide conformations, depending on pH and ionic strength.
