# Resin

In solid-phase peptide synthesis, the resin is an insoluble cross-linked polymer bead, often polystyrene or PEG-based, bearing a linker to which the first amino acid is attached. Resin choice determines whether the cleaved peptide has a C-terminal acid or amide. Examples include Wang resin for acids and Rink amide resin for amides.
