Proteomics is the large-scale study of proteins, including their identities, quantities, modifications and interactions. Most proteomics workflows digest proteins into peptides and analyse them by LC-MS/MS, using database searching to identify sequences. Synthetic peptides serve as standards for quantitative proteomics.
