# Peptide

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids joined by amide (peptide) bonds. Chains of roughly 2 to 50 residues are usually called peptides, while longer chains are described as polypeptides or proteins. Peptides are written from the N-terminus to the C-terminus and can be linear, cyclic, or chemically modified for research purposes.
