Glossary

# Peak tailing

Peak tailing is an asymmetry in a chromatographic peak in which the trailing edge is broader than the leading edge. In peptide HPLC it can arise from secondary interactions with residual silanols, column overload or degradation. Ion-pairing agents such as TFA reduce tailing of basic peptides.
