# Peak area

Peak area is the integrated area under a chromatographic peak, proportional to the amount of the component detected. In HPLC purity analysis, the percentage purity is the area of the target peak divided by the total area of all integrated peaks. Consistent integration parameters are required for reliable comparison between batches.
