# Orbitrap

The Orbitrap is a mass analyser in which ions orbit around a central spindle electrode, and their oscillation frequencies are converted into very accurate mass-to-charge measurements by Fourier transform. It provides high resolution and mass accuracy, enabling confident peptide identification and detection of subtle modifications.
