# Nanomole

A nanomole (nmol) is one billionth of a mole (10⁻⁹ mol), or one thousandth of a micromole. Nanomole quantities are typical of analytical work such as mass spectrometry and amino acid analysis. One milligram of a 1,000 g/mol peptide equals 1,000 nmol, illustrating the simple scaling between milligrams, molecular weight and nanomoles.
