# Milligram

A milligram (mg) is one thousandth of a gram (10⁻³ g). Research peptides are usually supplied in vials labelled by milligram quantity of lyophilised powder. Accurately weighing milligram amounts requires an analytical balance, and the hygroscopic nature of many peptides means weighing should be done quickly in a low-humidity environment.
