Glossary

# Microwave-assisted peptide synthesis

Microwave-assisted peptide synthesis uses microwave energy to heat solid-phase coupling and deprotection reactions, shortening cycle times and improving efficiency for difficult sequences. Elevated temperature can increase side reactions such as racemisation of cysteine and histidine and aspartimide formation, so conditions are optimised for sensitive residues.
