Glossary

# MALDI

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) is a soft ionisation technique in which the sample is mixed with a light-absorbing matrix and irradiated by a laser, producing mainly singly charged ions. Often paired with time-of-flight analysers, MALDI-TOF is used for rapid mass confirmation of synthetic peptides.
