Glossary

# Light sensitivity

Light sensitivity is the tendency of a compound to degrade on exposure to light, particularly ultraviolet wavelengths. Peptides containing tryptophan, tyrosine, cysteine or certain chromophores can undergo photo-oxidation. Amber vials, foil wrapping and storage in the dark are standard precautions for light-sensitive materials.
