# LC-MS

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) combines the separation power of HPLC with the mass identification of mass spectrometry. Each chromatographic peak can be assigned a mass, so impurities in a peptide sample can be characterised. Volatile mobile-phase additives such as formic acid are preferred for compatibility.
