Laboratory research literature on a compound comprises published in vitro assays, cell-culture work, animal-model pharmacology and toxicology studies carried out under controlled experimental conditions. Much of the published literature on research peptides is of this kind, and such findings do not establish safety or efficacy outside the laboratory. Primary sources can be searched through databases such as PubMed.
