# Isomer

Isomers are molecules with the same molecular formula but different arrangements of atoms. Structural isomers differ in connectivity, while stereoisomers differ in spatial arrangement. In peptide analysis, isomeric impurities such as racemised or isoaspartate forms have the same mass as the target and require chromatography to detect.
