# Isocratic elution

Isocratic elution is an HPLC mode in which the mobile phase composition remains constant throughout the run. It is simple and reproducible but less suitable for peptide mixtures with widely differing retention, where late-eluting components produce broad peaks. Gradient elution is therefore more common for peptides.
