Glossary

# Ionic bond

An ionic bond is an electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions. In peptide salts, positively charged amine and guanidinium groups are associated with negatively charged counter-ions such as trifluoroacetate or acetate through ionic interactions. Salt bridges between charged side chains also contribute to peptide structure.
