# IC50

The IC50, or half maximal inhibitory concentration, is the concentration of a substance required to inhibit a biological or biochemical process by 50% in vitro. It is used to compare the potency of inhibitors, including peptide-based and small-molecule enzyme inhibitors. IC50 values depend on assay conditions.
