# HOBt

Hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBt) is an additive used with carbodiimides and other coupling reagents in peptide synthesis to form active esters, increase coupling rates and reduce racemisation. Anhydrous HOBt has explosive properties, which has encouraged the adoption of safer alternatives such as Oxyma Pure.
