# Half-life

Half-life is the time required for the quantity or concentration of a substance to fall to half its initial value. In peptide research, in vitro half-life in serum, plasma or buffer is measured to assess susceptibility to enzymatic and chemical degradation. Structural modifications can extend stability considerably.
