Glossary

# Gradient elution

Gradient elution is an HPLC mode in which the mobile phase composition changes during the run, typically increasing the organic solvent proportion over time. It allows peptides with a wide range of hydrophobicities to elute as sharp peaks within a reasonable run time and is standard for peptide purity analysis.
