# Glutamine

Glutamine (three-letter code Gln, one-letter code Q) is a polar amino acid with a side-chain carboxamide one carbon longer than that of asparagine. Glutamine can deamidate and, at the N-terminus, can cyclise to pyroglutamate. Its side chain is typically trityl protected during Fmoc peptide synthesis.
