# G protein-coupled receptor

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a large family of cell-surface proteins with seven transmembrane helices that transmit signals by activating intracellular G proteins. Many peptide hormones and neuropeptides act through GPCRs, which are studied using binding and functional assays such as cAMP or calcium measurements.
