# Fluorescein isothiocyanate

Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) is a derivative of fluorescein that reacts with primary amines to form stable thiourea linkages, introducing a green fluorescent label. It is commonly used to label peptides at the N-terminus or lysine side chains. Fluorescein emission is pH-sensitive and susceptible to photobleaching.
