# Dissociation constant

The dissociation constant (Kd) quantifies the affinity between a ligand and its binding partner, equal to the ligand concentration at which half the binding sites are occupied at equilibrium. Lower Kd values indicate tighter binding. Peptide-receptor interactions are often characterised by Kd values in the nanomolar range.
