# Carrier protein

A carrier protein, most commonly bovine serum albumin (BSA), is added at low concentration to dilute peptide solutions to block binding sites on plastic and glass surfaces, reducing adsorption losses. In immunology, carrier proteins such as KLH are conjugated to peptides to raise antibodies against them.
