# Asparagine

Asparagine (three-letter code Asn, one-letter code N) is a polar amino acid with a side-chain carboxamide. It is prone to deamidation, especially when followed by glycine, forming aspartate or isoaspartate. In Fmoc synthesis the side chain is usually trityl protected to improve solubility and prevent dehydration side reactions.
