Glossary

# Agonist

An agonist is a substance that binds to a receptor and activates it, producing a biological response. Full agonists produce the maximal response, while partial agonists produce a submaximal response even at full occupancy. Many synthetic peptide analogues are characterised as agonists in receptor assays.
