# Adsorption

Adsorption is the adhesion of molecules from a liquid or gas onto a surface. Peptides, particularly hydrophobic or highly charged ones, can adsorb to glass and plastic surfaces, reducing the concentration actually present in dilute solutions. Using low-binding materials, adding carrier proteins or detergents, or silanised glass helps reduce losses.
